The Centre for Information Technology in Education (CITE) of the Faculty of Education of the University of Hong Kong (HKU) is holding its research symposium, that is, CITERS 2025, on 2 and 3 May, 2025 at HKU.
CITE, which aims to strive for excellence in the use of IT in education, provides a platform for individuals, institutions, and experts to come together to build new knowledge about learning and the transformative use of technology. CITERS 2025 welcomes researchers, practitioners, and everyone in related fields to share ideas, research findings, and good practices, and join our discussions on various topics. This year’s theme for the symposium is Touching Hearts and Inspiring Minds with Emerging Digital Technologies.
Building on this year’s theme, CITERS 2025 aims to delve into the human-centered aspects of technology integration in education. The symposium seeks to highlight the transformative potential of technology in touching hearts and minds, fostering a holistic approach to education that prioritizes both emotional engagement and intellectual stimulation. Join us in exploring the intersection of technology, humanity, and education at CITERS 2025.
We invite you to submit a proposal (online submissions will accept proposals starting from January 20) for CITERS 2025. The symposium will bring together researchers and practitioners interested in educational uses of information technology to:
To that end, we invite high-quality presentations from a wide diversity of disciplines focused on empowering communities and transforming learning in different contexts. We welcome empirical, theoretical, and practitioner-oriented presentations from educational researchers and practitioners, including teacher educators, principals, teachers, government officers, librarians, students, CITE members and those interested in IT and educational research.
We invite you to submit your contributions to one of the six sub-themes:
Human-AI Collaboration in Teaching and Learning: Human-AI collaboration explores the evolving relationship between humans and artificial intelligence in educational settings. Participants are encouraged to present research on how AI technologies can enhance teaching and learning experiences, foster personalized education, and support cognitive development.
Intelligent Learning Design and Learning Analytics: We welcome innovative approaches to designing intelligent learning environments and leveraging learning analytics to enhance educational outcomes. Presentations focusing on data-driven insights, adaptive learning technologies, and the integration of analytics in educational practices are highly encouraged.
Learning and Teaching with Emerging Technologies: Participants are invited to submit research and practices on the effective integration of emerging technologies, such as virtual reality, augmented reality, and games, to enrich the teaching and learning process. This sub-theme aims to showcase innovative practices that leverage cutting-edge technologies to engage learners and facilitate knowledge acquisition.
Education Equity and Digital Wellbeing: Equity and wellbeing issues are important concerns in education. This sub-theme invites contributions related to the promotion of equity in education through the thoughtful integration of digital technologies. Presentations focusing on strategies to ensure inclusive access to educational resources, address digital divides, and prioritize the digital wellbeing of learners are welcome.
Emerging Literacies for Future Readiness: Contribution to emerging literacies for future readiness should emphasize the development of essential literacies required for future readiness in a rapidly evolving digital landscape. Participants are encouraged to explore topics related to media literacy, digital citizenship, and critical thinking skills necessary to navigate the complexities of the AI era.
